Great advice here! I loved Honours @UOW. twitter.com/UOWDMS/status/…

With this more light-hearted episode, I finally decided to change my #podcast artwork. (The old one annoyed me a bit.) Check it out! 😀 podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/35-… twitter.com/LoungeRuminato… t.co/qCj8Vd4xX…

@KateMfD @donghop97 @thespecsofMia @GivernyW @RebeccaNhi @sharped Yes, I appreciate that word that you used with me the other day. It’s a nice metaphor! I will also try to remember that I need to be a good neighbour. :)

24 Jul 2020

@viditb You strike this balance well in @lookup_ios. I love the large images for the word of the day, with the rest of it being logical and legible, so that it can be what it’s supposed to be: a dictionary.

24 Jul 2020

@viditb Yes, subtlety and moderation are important!

24 Jul 2020

@KateMfD @donghop97 @thespecsofMia @GivernyW @RebeccaNhi @sharped Thanks for sharing, @KateMfD. It does seem like a difficult balance to strike. I find things and occasionally think, ‘Oh, is this the one that will claim or ruin my idea?’.

24 Jul 2020

@viditb Glad that you agree! Somehow, people think that having big images makes things more recognisable but it really doesn’t. I’m also inclined to think that it’s deliberately exhausting, almost like a Gruen Transfer for software, where you become lost and discover things accidentally.

24 Jul 2020

@viditb I agree. Ever since the first Apple TV, which was inspired by the iPod’s interface, I’ve always thought that it’s good to have hierarchical lists (like a column browser). You have a sense of order and where you’ve been before, dipping in and out of categories like genre, etc.

23 Jul 2020

@KateMfD Hope you’re still going strong… also, I just realised that I accidentally put three ‘-ough’ words into my last tweet, all of which have a different pronunciation.

23 Jul 2020

@KateMfD That is rough though… my thoughts are with you!

23 Jul 2020

@KateMfD Happy birthday!

23 Jul 2020

@imyke Just caught up on your Venus-themed ‘B-Sides’ episode and you reminded me of my own school mnemonic for the planets, which was: ‘Many voracious echidnas munch juicy singlets under Nicky’s porch’. It saddens me that this is now even more nonsensical in the absence of Pluto.

23 Jul 2020

@gruber That looks awesome! A nice combination of translucency and the style of Classic Mac OS…

23 Jul 2020

@gruber How retro would you set it?

23 Jul 2020

@caseyliss @ismh Ooooh that sounds cool/mysterious. I shall not probe any further!

23 Jul 2020

@mattcassinelli It is amusing to see how everything old becomes new again, however I do like the idea of reducing the number of icons with white borders/backgrounds on the Home screen. It’s also quite a nice red.

23 Jul 2020

@caseyliss @ismh Do you use another method altogether or find that the search function gives you enough power to surface times and locations and (through machine learning) to show objects, animals, etc.?

22 Jul 2020

@endlessnoodling No worries! Great options too!

22 Jul 2020

Another great reason to stick with apps like @OvercastFM, which support open #podcasting that’s based on RSS… twitter.com/backlon/status…

22 Jul 2020

Thanks to @siracusa on the latest episode of @atpfm, I finally thought of an Apple device-naming scheme that I like and will keep. 😀 [Feld Notes - ‘Nerdy Names for Apple Devices’] #Mac #podcast feldnotes.com/2020/07/22/ner…

I love it when @gruber gets specific like this. I’ve mentioned that ‘Return’ and ‘Enter’ are different to various people over time and have always received blank expressions. twitter.com/daringfireball…

@iheartfatapollo @ChrisComerford3 @ingsocbloc I do think about that Blade Runner-style shutdown every so often. Hmmmm… a legitimate cause for concern! Also, I have to say the ‘fat Apollo’ username is classic. 😀

@richardberryuk @SpotifyUK As a side point, while I’m a lifelong Apple user and fan, it does concern me somewhat to see more corporate production of ‘news’. The company’s stance on privacy and transparency is generally better than others' but they’re not immune to steering things for services revenue.

16 Jul 2020

@richardberryuk @SpotifyUK Yes, like radio, podcasting has experienced a wonderful range of amateur and independent participation. As long as that stays alive, I’ll be happy.
