@richardberryuk Out of interest, do you enjoy any exclusive Spotify shows or would you like to see such content from Apple? 😀

16 Jul 2020

@richardberryuk @verge I think that you’re right: niche/special-interest podcasting through RSS would carry on anyway. News could be a different beast. It would just be a shame to see Apple stop being the major (albeit somewhat negligent) custodian of this ecosystem through its mainstream directory.

16 Jul 2020

@richardberryuk @verge A very good question! I’m fine with the idea of ‘Apple Originals’ but if exclusives break the openness of RSS-based podcasting, that would be a real shame. It’s those in the long tail who had to the variety and life of podcasting.

@jsnell My question is: has Submarine changed?

16 Jul 2020

@scottknaster @jsnell @SBSOnDemand in Australia has always made a good habit of this. I’ve managed to avoid missing films because of the feature. Good to see others doing it!

15 Jul 2020

@lukebuckmaster Yes, a little bit! I quite like it though. It just reminds you of how arbitrary and tied to work/capitalism/the machine everything is.

15 Jul 2020

It’s a shame but season two had one of the best conclusions to a show that I’ve ever seen. This sooner-than-desired ending puts ‘Kidding’ into the realm of short, classic comedies that you see from Britain. Think ‘The Office’ (UK) and ‘Fawlty Towers’. Perfect as they are! twitter.com/outtapez/statu…

15 Jul 2020

@amicusadastra Yes, we need to be comfortable with silence and our own thoughts. For most people, that’s somewhere between awkward and terrifying.

15 Jul 2020

@benthompson @stratechery It’s impressive that you acknowledged it so quickly and before others! Usually there’s always some spell-check keyboard warrior who’s waiting in the wings to pounce on known writers.

15 Jul 2020

@amicusadastra Yes, books are the answer! I also try to go for walks sometimes with no music or podcasts—just listening to the wind and birds.

15 Jul 2020

@somefinnspecial Great point about mondegreens! They’re generally very clear.

15 Jul 2020

@amicusadastra That’s the perfect way to put it. Interestingly, if it weren’t for the need to have a paying job, I think that I could personally escape most of it. I find that tech doesn’t take over my life as much when it comes to leisure. What about you?

14 Jul 2020

@somefinnspecial @hotdogsladies @taestell Your point about strong lyrics is a good one. In my opinion, Crowded House is one of the few bands that has managed to write consistently good songs and avoid trite, contrived lyrics.

14 Jul 2020

@somefinnspecial *collection are (excuse the typo!)

14 Jul 2020

@somefinnspecial @hotdogsladies @taestell Yep, great stuff! I find the two songs that get stuck in my head the most from their collection is ‘Hole in the River’ and ‘Can’t Carry On’. Since they’re both next to each other on the first album, that can be problematic for my brain, haha.

@KateMfD @sharped @RebeccaNhi @GivernyW @thespecsofMia @donghop97 I wanted to sit and read this properly before responding and wow, this is truly thorough. It’s excellent. Good on you, David, for merging your ideas from both paid work and study so well. I’m excited to see the results of your work and thanks for sharing it too, Kate. 😀

14 Jul 2020

@hotdogsladies @taestell Favourite Finn / Split Enz / Crowded House song? Could you pick one?

14 Jul 2020

@daringfireball @gruber A great piece—I love the restaurant analogy—and I agree with what you say about the dickbars. I used to subscribe to @nytimes but found ads in the app and in other places to be frustrating. If you’re paying decent money for news, it should be easier to make adjustments.

14 Jul 2020

@_gabytron Yep, totally superfluous!

14 Jul 2020

@_gabytron I hate them too. In my experience, since PC trackpads were always so ordinary, this tiny tool often had better precision and people ended up liking them.

13 Jul 2020

@1DavidNorman Thanks for following! Have a great day and I look forward to catching your tweets. 😀

13 Jul 2020

@gruber Hi there! Since WWDC last month, I’ve been thinking about how and why it was so different. I thought that I’d send you my take on it, called ‘The WWDC That Never Took Place’. I’d love to know what you think. Thanks and have a good one! 😀 loungeruminator.net/2020/07/13/the…

@KateMfD @jasmynconnell @sharped @charlenebose @Ssodiumm @pro05sis I’m not saying it’s easy but it’s about looking in strange places. Everyone needs a marketing coordinator these days and everyone’s applying for it. Go to networking events, write stuff online, join LinkedIn if you must (shudder) and walk into places to speak to people in person.
