@KateMfD @jasmynconnell @sharped @charlenebose @Ssodiumm @pro05sis Beyond overworking, you succeed by finding your niche. Be weird. I got into full-time work at a German business chamber, combining my study in communications and German. They thought I was weird because I was an Australian male, not a German female like most of their applicants.

@KateMfD @jasmynconnell @sharped @charlenebose @Ssodiumm @pro05sis (2) Degrees are broken out and marketed more than before, increasing focus on measurability and direct connection to work, e.g. you don’t just study ā€˜business’ or ā€˜arts’ anymore, you study a very specific thing like ā€˜financial planning’ that connects to a certain type of role.

@KateMfD @jasmynconnell @sharped @charlenebose @Ssodiumm @pro05sis The student-as-partner idea is a nice one. To me, there are two issues here. (1) There’s the (actually pretty wonderful) point that more people are going to university than before. It was once a clear path to a job but now people need to differentiate themselves more.

@ChrisComerford3 It’s shocking. I was surprised that there weren’t at least a few British films in the list. (Also a big ‘yes’ to your comment on subtitles—some people I’ve met really avoid them… a big shame.)

I’ve seen 31 of these. There are some awesome films here however the American bias is noticeable. twitter.com/BobbyBeltTX/st…

06 Jul 2020

@ChrisComerford3 Love it!

05 Jul 2020

@andrewcanion @sharped It’s great to make these unexpected connections!

04 Jul 2020

@andrewcanion @sharped Indeedy we do and Australia is a small place! Also the bubble of Wollongong / Port Kembla…

It was great to have @HannahLPitt on the Lounge Ruminator #podcast this week to discuss a very important topic. Check out the episode on the site or listen with Apple Podcasts: podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/lou… twitter.com/LoungeRuminato…

@DaleKerr @SBS @SBSOnDemand Good stuff! Very pleased to see this

03 Jul 2020

@sharped Super-catchy indeed and I like the Australian touch that you added there.

@viditb The design of the smallest widget is perfect and I would add that instantly to my home screen.

@CraigJDuffy A fair point as well! An improvement would be nice.

01 Jul 2020

It’s a bit late but I’m sure that you would be pleased to hear this, @sytaffel.

Agreed… we have so many of the things that it’s time to stop including them. twitter.com/backlon/status…

@jsnell @ditheringfm According to the flag, it’s the only place on Earth where tortoises can crush lions.

@viticci @imyke As an Australian who worships Vegemite, I was amused by your view of the spread but totally understand. ā€˜Tasting the apocalypse’ haha… I’m one of the few Australians who likes it without a butter layer on toast.

29 Jun 2020

@andrewcanion If I’ve understood you correctly, the centralised member benefit still exists, as even if you only support one show to get that podcast’s extra content, you still receive all of their ā€˜crossover’ podcasts and access to the Discord.

29 Jun 2020

@imyke Apple should be hiring all of you @_RelayFM people to come up with names for products and services. Somehow, quite ironically, in spoofing monikers like ‘+’ and ‘Pro’, you’ve made it all sound excellent!

29 Jun 2020

Haha now this is a classic name. twitter.com/imyke/status/1…

29 Jun 2020

@drjessicaford @ChrisComerford3 We now just use the term ‘TV’ to make sense of what we see on streaming services, like McLuhan’s ‘rear-view mirror’. Otherwise I agree with what Jess says: it’s now an extended moving picture in parts that is longer than a film, with parts that are generally shorter than a film.

@CarlRossini Thanks for following!

@KateMfD Gorgeous birds! What a lovely welcome back for you! šŸ˜€

@caseyliss @siracusa Whenever you all say the word ā€˜parse’ on @atpfm, I laugh to myself about how we Australians pronounce the words ā€˜pass’ and ā€˜parse’ the same way—using the ā€˜ah’ sound. That would probably be infuriating to you. šŸ˜‚
